College Advising

Philosophy

Trinity School is a Christian, college preparatory community that provides a nurturing environment to enrich the mind, strengthen the body, enliven the soul, and inspire servant leadership.

The purpose of college counseling at Trinity School of Midland is to provide a personalized, and individualized approach which supports the student and family. The College Advising department at Trinity School educates parents and students about preparing for college, completing college applications, and selecting a college that is the ‘best fit’ for the student.

  • Freshman Year

    Throughout their freshman year students will:
    • Receive an introduction to college advising, emphasizing the importance of making good grades
    • Set up and receive Naviance and College Board accounts
    • Discover and learn about colleges and universities across the country
  • Sophomore Year

    Throughout their sophomore year students will:
    • Go on an expeditionary learning trip that involves visiting college campuses and becoming familiar with the college admissions process
    • Take career inventories and explore different college majors
    • Learn about standardized testing for acceptance to college and the National Merit competition
  • Junior Year

    Throughout their junior year students will:
    • Practice and prepare for PSAT, SAT, and ACT exams
    • Meet with their college advisor to build their prospective college list
    • Begin preparing the college application process by writing their college essays and building their resumes
  • Senior Year

    Throughout their senior year students will:
    • Continue to work with the college advising staff during the summer and early fall to complete and submit their applications to colleges
    • Apply for and seek out scholarship opportunities
    • Receive training and learn the skills to live more independently when attending college
    • College bell that Trinity School of Midland students ring when accepted into college.
