The Trinity School Endowment Fund helps to assure the school’s future while supporting its present needs. A healthy endowment can give a school a measure of financial stability and independence that it might not have otherwise. 
The Trinity School Endowment provides consistent, yearly support, not only for this year, but for years to come. The impact of the Endowment Fund is powerful, and its continued growth is critical to the long term sustainability of Trinity School.

  • The Cindy Midkiff Memorial Award

    The Cindy Midkiff Memorial Award was established by family and friends to honor the memory of Cindy Midkiff and her 30 years teaching Spanish at Trinity School. Nominees considered for selection include a student who demonstrates active participation and demonstrated interest in a world language class; exemplary citizenship, giving of himself or herself to enhance the Trinity community and a love of learning. The Trinity School World Language faculty nominates and selects the Middle and Upper School recipient.
  • The Dr. Premila Singh Johnson Valedictorian Award

    Dr. and Mrs. Tulsi Dyal Singh made a gift to endow the Dr. Premila Singh Johnson Valedictorian award in honor of their daughter's 25th anniversary of graduation from Trinity School in 1994. Dr. Johnson and her sister, Dr. Sharmila Singh Watkins, were both valedictorians of their respective graduating classes and both were National Merit Scholars. The award is given annually to the graduating class’s valedictorian.
  • The Dr. Samuel N. Macferran, Jr. Memorial Science Award

    The Dr. Samuel N. Macferran, Jr. Memorial Science Award was established in memory of beloved local pediatrician, Dr. Macferran, by his family. Nominees considered for selection must exhibit camaraderie and a sense of fairness, possess a deep desire for knowledge, maintain an inherent generous spirit towards others, display a variety of interests and eagerness for new challenges, and exhibit strong interest in science with the possibility for  a future in the medical field. The Trinity School Science & Technology faculty nominates and selects the recipient.
  • The Dr. Sharmila Singh Watkins Math Award

    Dr. and Mrs. Tulsi Singh recently endowed the Dr. Sharmila Singh Watkins Mathematics Award in honor of the 25th anniversary of their daughter's graduation from Trinity School in 1997. This award will be given annually to the top senior math student to use for continuing their education.
  • Expeditionary Learning Endowed Fund

    In 2014, Trinity School received a grant to endow the Expeditionary Learning program. Expeditionary learning offers rich educational experiences outside the traditional classroom setting. The annual earnings from the endowed fund established annual support to grow and supplement the program.
  • The G. William Coombes III Endowed Chair of History and Social Science

    This endowed fund was established in 2015 In honor of his 43 years at Trinity. Coach Coombes faithfully served Trinity School as Upper School Head, long-time teacher of American history and other subjects, college advisor, life coach, football coach, basketball coach, and alumni officer, and treated generations of students to extracurricular enrichments.
  • The George J. and Margaret R. Farrell Endowed Scholarship

    A merit scholarship named in honor of Margaret Farrell, a beloved English teacher and Director of Admission at Trinity, a Farrell Scholar is a boy or girl who habitually demonstrates integrity, leadership, courage, and industry.
  • The Joanne Weber Endowment for the Preservation of All Saints Chapel

    The endowment was established in 2017 in honor of Mrs. Weber’s fiftieth year of teaching at the School. She taught preschool, primer, fourth grade and Middle School and is currently a full time tutor. Along with all these duties, Mrs. Weber has faithfully taken care of All Saints Chapel for years.
  • The Noah Cox Memorial Band Award

    To honor the memory of Noah Cox, Reagan and Brian Whytlaw established The Noah Cox Memorial Band Award endowed fund. 
    The scholarship will be awarded annually to a current 6th grade band student that:
    • Actively participates and displays leadership in the program
    • Exemplifies the Trinity School mission statement
    • Displays empathy and concern for others
    • Gives of himself or herself to enhancing the Trinity atmosphere
    • Demonstrates a joy for living and learning
  • Patricia Maurer Endowed Fund for Faculty Development

    The endowment was established in honor of Mrs. Maurer’s seventeen years of service to Trinity School. She was instrumental in the growth and success of Preschool and Lower School at Trinity. Admired and respected for her experience and expertise, Mrs. Maurer was also recognized for creative, out-of-the box ideas that challenged the progress and interests of young learners and the School at large.   Earnings from this fund help defer the cost of continuing education for faculty, including support for teachers pursuing advanced degrees, new certifications, and specialized training.
  • Vina Rahls Excellence in Teaching Award

    Vina Rahlfs played an important role for over forty years in the founding, growth, and development of Trinity. She taught students, guided parents, educated teachers, trained acolytes, nurtured Heads, and was a constant source of inspiration. This fund enables the school to reward outstanding faculty service year after year.
  • The Professional Development Fund

    It is necessary for teachers to continually increase their knowledge of their discipline and to sharpen their teaching skills. Professional development, therefore, has a direct impact on the quality of education that Trinity students receive. A generous donor endowed this fund in 2009. Annual earnings from the fund support our professional development funds.

Guidelines for New Endowed Funds and Awards

  • Honorary Endowment Fund

    In order to name a fund in honor or in memory of a special event or individual, an initial deposit of at least $15,000 is required. The purpose of this type of fund is to support a School program or facility and therefore reduce that program or facility’s impact on the operating budget.
  • Endowed Award

    In order to endow a new award, an initial deposit of at least $25,000 is required. Distributions of no more than 5% are given from these funds to the award winner.
  • Annual Award

    To give an annual award, the donor must commit to at least $1000/year for at least 10 years.
