Kevin was born to beloved local pediatrician Dr. Brent Blonkvist and his wife, Pat, in Midland. He attended Trinity School until the 7th grade and went on to Midland High where he participated in football and track and was instrumental in starting the chess club and the key club. Kevin’s sister, Jennifer, and brother, Tim, also went to Trinity and were in the first and second classes of the School. While attending the University of Mississippi, he met his beautiful wife, Emily Elder. After graduation, he joined the First National Bank in Midland and moved home to West Texas with Emily. While at the bank, he moved through officer training, became a commercial lender, and helped build a new oil and gas audit department. Then, ready for a new challenge, Kevin joined EF Hutton and spent time in New York. Since 1990, Kevin has worked with RBC Wealth Management and has led a nationally top-ranking team of 8 partners including his son, Michael. He has received the Chairman’s Council Award for most of his career and has been recognized by the Financial Times, Forbes Magazine, and Barron’s Magazine as a top financial advisor for numerous years in a row.  Kevin’s experience and leadership have helped countless nonprofit organizations grow their endowments, including the Midland College Foundation,  Midland Memorial Hospital, Midland Children’s Rehab Center, Trinity School, and more. Kevin continues to serve numerous nonprofit organizations, holding various board positions and acting in primary fundraising capacities. Aside from his many board positions, he was a key fundraiser in working to raise college funds for children of the Oklahoma Bombing victims. Kevin and his family served as honorary chairs for many Centers for Children and Families’ events. Kevin was also the founding chairman of the Board for Make A Wish for West Texas and served on the Make a Wish Northwest Texas Board in Dallas.  Emily and Kevin have been members of First Presbyterian Church for many years and have taught Sunday school and co-led the youth program. Kevin was previously a Deacon and is now an Elder and Trustee of First Presbyterian Church. Kevin’s involvement over the years at Trinity School ranges from being an active parent to a member of the Board of Trustees and Chairman of the Investment Committee. He helped provide the School with a new football stadium in the 90s and currently manages the Endowment Fund. Most importantly, he supports his grandchildren at every School event.  Emily and Kevin have three children: Whitney, Michael, and Chris, who all went to Trinity and are now all married to James Gripp from Midland, Katy Gresham Blonkvist from Indianola, MS, and Haley Ford Blonkvist from Midland. All three families live in Midland. Kevin and Emily have eight grandchildren, five of whom currently attend Trinity. Kevin’s passions are hunting doves and quail at the WishBone Ranch and organizing fishing and hunting trips for family and friends. His greatest loves, beyond his family and God, are hunting dogs and woodworking.
