Dr. Wetendorf Receives TACAC Founder's Award

Dr. Trey Wetendorf, Director of College Advising at Trinity School of Midland, has won the 2020 Founders' Award, presented by the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling (TACAC).

Established in 1986 by the TACAC Executive Board, the Founders’ Award recognizes members whose contributions to the Association and the profession are “above and beyond the call of duty” and exemplary of exceptional talent and devotion to students. These awards are designated as “Founders’ Awards” in honor and recognition of the charter members of the Texas Association for College Admission Counseling. (https://www.tacac.org/awards)
Dr. Wetendorf has worked as the Director of College Advising at Trinity School for the last eight years, acting as a lifeline for students and parents as they navigate the college admission process. In the fall, you’ll find him at the coffee shop every Monday, working on college applications with students and helping them develop their resumes. Throughout the year, he travels around the country to learn more about various colleges and the changing landscape of college admissions. In the spring he helps chaperone sophomore students in a week-long expeditionary trip, visiting private and public universities around Texas. In his words, “it’s the kids’ hearts and hard work that fuels me every day,” but his dedication to those students shows year after year as scholarship offers and college acceptances grow.

To date, the Class of 2020 has been accepted to over 40 colleges and received close to $2 million in scholarship offers, with more on the way.
