Trinity Students Win at UTPB Regional Science Fair

The UTPB Regional Science Fair took place in early March and several students from Trinity were chosen to compete. Congratulations to both Audrey L. '26, who won 3rd place in Physics in the Junior Division, and Alex K. '23, who won 2nd place in Environmental Engineering in the Senior Division. Alex also won the Senior Division in Trinity's Science Fair.

Audrey was recognized for her project "Flipping Quarters," which hypothesized that the design on the back of the quarters will not affect whether the quarter lands on heads more than tails. Audrey said, "My results were that all the quarters landed on heads around 50% of the time, except for the Nevada quarter, which landed on heads 42% of the time. My hypothesis was correct: except for the Nevada quarter, they will land slightly more on heads."

Alex was recognized for his project "Microplastics Extraction Using Gas Nucleation," showing that microplastics can be removed from water using gas nucleation. Alex said, "This is important because it helps keep our water supply clean and free from the increasing amount of plastics found in the environment."

Congratulations, Audrey and Alex!
