Trinity School Emblem Flown to International Space Station

The Trinity School emblem was flown to the International Space Station during Expeditions 59, 60, and 61 (2019-2020) by NASA astronaut Christina Koch at the request of Trinity School alumna Dr. Sharmi Singh Watkins ’97. A Certificate of Spaceflight Authenticity was presented to Trinity School on March 3, 2021.

Head of School Shelby Hammer says, “This is an incredible honor, and we grateful to have our alumni continue to be part of Trinity and our community in meaningful ways. To have our emblem flown to the International Space Station is unbelievable, and we are forever grateful to Dr. Watkins for her dedication and support of the School.” 
 
Dr. Watkins is the Assistant Director for Exploration in NASA’s Human Health and Performance Directorate and serves as Koch’s physician.  She has served as lead scientist for the NASA Human Research Program’s Exploration Medical Capability element and as a medical subject matter expert for NASA’s Commercial Crew and exploration programs. Watkins was inducted into the Trinity Alumni Hall of Honor in 2019.
