Senior Spotlight

Isabella Rasmussen

Looking back at your high school years, which academic subject or course had the most impact on you and why?
Taking Chinese class throughout high school has been one of the most impactful school experiences for me. It challenged me to be okay with making mistakes and trusting myself in scenarios of testing. I developed new approaches to learning languages, especially in areas of memorization and being able to apply what I’ve learned.

What extracurricular activities or clubs were you involved in, and how did they shape your high school experience?
I’ve participated in several sports during high school, but trying basketball for the first time at Trinity was a standout experience. It was tough, but it taught me the value of resilience and communication. While I wasn’t able to continue playing this year, the lessons I learned from basketball—especially how determination can lead to improvement—will always stick with me.

What advice would you give to incoming freshmen based on your experiences?
Find classes that genuinely interest you and don’t be hesitant about asking your teachers for help—they’ll be happy to see that you want to do well in their class. High school is a time of discovery, so not knowing exactly who you are or what you want is normal.

What are you looking forward to the most for your senior year?
I’m really looking forward to graduation. I imagine it’ll be a moment of feeling both relieved and proud to have accomplished so much. Thanks to the help of many good teachers and people supporting me, I feel ready to explore a new chapter in life.

What are your plans after you graduate?
After graduation, I’m planning to move back to Europe to study medicine. I’m looking forward to being closer to my family while also getting a taste of independence—having my own place, finding new hobbies, and exploring a new culture.
