Speech and Debate is only in its third year at Trinity School. It is a class that meets during the school day and travels to tournaments to compete on the weekends. In its first year, one Trinity student qualified for the National Speech and Debate Association (NSDA) National Tournament. During the second year, three Trinity students competed at the 2019 NSDA National Tournament. In its third year, five Trinity students will compete at the 2020 NSDA National Tournament. Team members have won numerous other awards as well. The NSDA designated Trinity as a "Charter School," the highest honor given to a high school. The award recognizes sustained excellence in interscholastic forensics. Trinity School achieved this designation in just a year and a half of competition under the direction of coach John Klassen and assistant coach Lauren Sonka.
