As part of Trinity School's celebration of America's 250th anniversary, fourth grade students have been exploring the rich history and significance of national monuments across our country. With over 130 officially designated national monuments throughout the United States, there was no shortage of fascinating history to discover!

Students began by reflecting on what a monument truly is, why communities and nations choose to build them, and how weather and time affect these structures over the years. After identifying some of the most famous monuments in America, students partnered up to dive deeper into research on a monument of their choice.

Together, they explored lesser-known gems alongside iconic landmarks, including Independence Hall, the Crazy Horse Memorial, the Space Needle, and the Gateway Arch. Each pair used their research to create an informative slide highlighting key facts, history, and significance about their chosen monument.

These slides will come together as part of a special presentation, proudly displayed in the Commons during lunch for the school community to enjoy. This project not only deepened students' understanding of American history and geography, but also strengthened their research, collaboration, and presentation skills. All while honoring our nation's 250-year legacy!
