AMANDA BRAY ’02- Sculpture Artist

BA School of Art Institute, Chicago.  Amanda Bray, ceramics, displayed in the 2010 Masters of Fine Arts Exhibition March 19-April 7 at the University of Georgia’s Lamar Dodd School of Art. Nominated for emerging figurative artist for symposium at Arrowmont.

Attended Trinity school sixth to tenth grades and graduated from Interlochen Academy. Jasper Hale in the film adaptations of Stephenie Meyer's novels Twilight and The Twilight Saga: New Moon.  Emailed between gigs: “Thanks and good luck!”

 

JENNESS ROUSE ’02- Advertising actress & model, writer, vocal performer

“As a direct result of my Trinity education and the Fine Arts and the musicals that really inspired me,…I am pursuing opera as a possible career,…auditioning in NY or Europe or wherever those doors open.”  After encouragement in writing (David Freeman Memorial Award)  Jenness is writing regularly on her blog and writing a devotional cookbook.

 

JOE MCSPADDEN ’74-  Award-winning Independent Film Producer

“Without my exposure to Fine Arts beginning at Trinity, I would not be able to have the tremendous experience that I have had…Mr. Hickman, in fourth grade, read books to us like Charlotte’s Web, that I still use as reference points for film ideas.  Mr. Coombes exposed us to literature beginning in sixth grade that gave me my sense of story.  And without a good story…there is no movie.”

 

JOHN RENAUD ’05- Fashion Designer

“Without Jack Hickman and Paige Gates, and all the amazing teachers at Trinity, I wouldn’t be doing what I’m doing.”  John has worked on projects for such clients as Oscar De La Renta and is currently is an emerging new designer with JCPenneys. He has designed for electronica rock star, Peaches, for her new music video.

“I came into the visual arts program mid-way through high school.  The arts department and especially Mr. Hickman constantly pushed me to accomplish more I thought I could. Today, I am so thankful for his encouragement and determination. I create all of the copy that is used on our collateral. The Dallas Morning News editor called me the "West Village marketing machine."

 

 KELLY GARRETT RATHBONE- ’01- Sculpture Artist

Artist in Residence at the Archie Bray Foundation for the Ceramic Arts, located in Helena, MT,  Shows:  Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia; Habatat Gallery of Chicago; Apparizione, Testimone. Hal Samples Galley, Dallas, TX. Nominated for emerging figurative artist for symposium at Arrowmont.

 

MATT HINKLEY ’02- Music Director, Broadway

“I blame Trinity entirely…which is a good thing.  I make my living entirely from music…I feel very blessed…Trinity provided the forum through which I got to explore what I could do artistically.  I played guitar in chapel services…I was music director for plays… My junior high band played parties at Trinity.  Just want to say thank you…”   Album:  Glory Days.

 

MICHAEL ARDEN ’01- Actor, Film-Bride Wars, Broadway-Big River, TV-Grey’s Anatomy; Composer/Songwriter  

"When I was recently asked to write a few words about what Trinity had done for me in terms of being an artist, a simple and resounding answer quickly came: everything. Most artists spend most of their lives rebelling against discouragement. At Trinity, from the moment I began my studies, I was made to feel that my talents in the arts were what made me special. I was given a chance to cultivate a strong belief in myself not only as an artist but as a person and for that I will be forever grateful. I firmly credit Jack Hickman, Vivian Moss, and the entire fine arts faculty for everything I do and am.”  Michael also was invited to on Barbara Striesand’s first European tour.

 

REBECCA BEAL MCCLURE ’00-  Still life and Animal Portrait Artist

Becca received her B.F.A.  Cum Laude in Illustration, with a minor in Art History from the Savannah College of Art and Design in 2004. While studying Italian art and history in Florence Italy at the Lorenzo de' Medici School, she had her first oil painting instruction and fell in love with it. Since then, her work has concentrated on animal portraiture commissions and still lifes in which she continues to use the elements of painting to convey a realistic quality to her work. Her first solo exhibition was held at the Museum of the Southwest.

“I think that ISAS Fine Arts Festival is probably the most important thing that Trinity provided for me. It allowed me to meet other student artists, and other like-minded folk. All of which inspired me to follow my dreams of becoming a working artist.”

 

TRAVIS BENJAMIN CACTUS KLUNICK ’04-  Writer, Photographer

Travis has a degree in English from the University of Texas and is beginning his research to write about his travels driving a big rig for several months.  He plans to apply to graduate schools and get serious about writing.

 

WARREN MAURER ’06-  St. Edwards University, Photographer

Warren has continued his artist endeavors begun in photography at Trinity School with Shelley Hickman.  He submitted a variety of photos from his final project for his environmental sculpture class. 

ASHLEY MCALPINE ’04- Ringling School of Art, Caricature Artist

Ashley’s work began before her time in AP art at Trinity.  Her unique style captures her spirit.

 

WHITNEY MACDONALD ’06- Julliard School, Violin Performance

“Trinity School was the most supporting environment for my musical aspirations. My time there had a direct impact on many of my achievements, including an invitation to perform as guest artist with an orchestra in Kunming, China in 2008. I feel blessed to have attended a school that so embraces the arts!”

 

ROB LOWE ’00- Composer, Musician, Band “Balmorhea” 

Formed in 2006 by founders Rob Lowe and Michael Muller, Balmorhea play textural post-rock with a classical influence.  The band had done extensive touring in the United States and Europe. Balmorhea has issued albums: Constellations, Rivers Arms, All Is Wild, All Is Silent.
