Mr. Catania joined with the Seniors leaving his mark in the concrete.

When I first met Mr. Catania I thought he was weird and he smelled funny. I'm sure as an 8th grader he thought the same about me. Mr. Catania has had many offers to move to bigger and more exotic places, but I know God kept him at Trinity because I, among many other students, needed him. I always knew I wanted to do something with my life that would help people in third world countries. What kid doesn't want to do that at one point or another? But it was Mr. Catania who first gave me the words to describe this innate desire and give me a sense of direction to accomplish this goal, and I will always be grateful. It was in class my junior year about fours years ago, when he taught us a poem by Antione de Saint-Exupery called "To Be a Man". Ironically this class was full of girls but Catania swore it still pertained to us. He was reading through the poem till he got to a section that I'm roughly translating as "To be a man is to be responsible. It is to feel shame about miseries that you did not cause, and to have a desire to fix it." I will never forget how he stopped after this sentence and looked at me and said "Susan, this is your life. This is the type of person you are and I know exactly what you should do." Low and behold Catania pulled out information about Medicine sans Frontiers, a.k.a Doctors Without Borders. This organization is perfect for me and I never would have found it without Mr. Catania's help. Though he did teach me a million other life lessons, I will again always be grateful for the way Mr. Catania took the time to challenge me and call me out to a profession that has changed me forever. Thank you so much Mr. Catania, class of 2007 loves you and Trinity will never be the same without you.
