2nd & 3rd Graders' Art Projects at Exhibit

Museum of the Southwest (1705 W. Missouri)
Third graders' collaborative art project "Better Tile-gether" has qualified for this year's student art exhibition at the Museum of the Southwest under the theme: "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together."
-Vincent Van Gogh.

They studied Arabic patterns and geometry while learning about the multiple different ways in which objects—and people—are stronger together, capable of bringing to life any ideas we can possibly come up with.
Students observed and used multiple discarded objects in order to create texture and designs in their clay tiles, resulting in a series of beautiful pieces of art. When gathered, the small tiles make a bigger explosion of color and provide a new purpose.

Second graders' collaborative art project "Gaudi's Salamander Party" has qualified for this year's student art exhibition at the Museum of the Southwest under the theme: "Great things are done by a series of small things brought together." -Vincent Van Gogh.

We studied the art of Antoni Gaudi and the way in which he merged his designs to be part of his environment. We also observed how he used small pieces together to create colorful and attractive designs. When we studied pictures of his Park Guell, we fell in love with his giant Salamander, which allowed us to learn about these very curious amphibians. We created our own Salamanders using small pebbles a lot of creativity!

Join us for the opening of the Elementary School Student Art Exhibition!  The art will be on display from April 5-May 12.
