Lower School BIGG Project - CANstruction!

Dr. Brian Peters, Head of Lower School
Lower School is preparing to kick off the BIGG Projects for the 2025-2026 school year.  During the week of September 15th, Lower School will be conducting a canned food drive to benefit the West Texas Food Bank.

This event marks the beginning of Trinity's annual service initiative, BIGG Projects (Big Ideas for the Greater Good), sponsored by Amy Bell Charities. Throughout the school year, each grade level will brainstorm and develop their own BIGG ideas, focusing on ways they can serve and positively impact the Midland community.  The canned food drive is a collective effort by all in Lower School as service learning is introduced and discussed daily in Chapel.

There will be a little excitement as this can’t just be any canned food drive.  At the end of the week, the students will be engaged in “can-struction.”  Yes, building projects will take place by each class or grade level using only the canned food products donated.  On Friday afternoon, judges will examine the structures and award each with some unique designation that could include:

Most structurally sound
Most creative
Best use of color

This will be an exciting time as our Lower School students learn about and appreciate their part in a service learning project.  Ultimately, we hope to provide the West Texas Food Bank with many items to support needy families in our community.
