Middle School Moments

Hello, Middle School Families!

It is hard to believe we are already a few weeks into the school year! The routines that felt new on the first day are quickly becoming habits, and our students are doing such a wonderful job navigating their schedules, managing their responsibilities, and keeping up with Middle School expectations.

More importantly, the Simmons Building feels happy and energetic! We hear laughter coming from classrooms, see friendships growing in the hallways, and watch our students become a little more confident and independent each day. They are learning when to ask for help, how to take responsibility, and what it means to be a positive member of our Middle School community. Are they perfect? Of course not; they are middle schoolers! But they are learning, growing, and doing so many things well.

Our students have signed the Middle School Honor Code, giving us an opportunity to talk about integrity, responsibility, and doing what is right, even when no one is watching. Lockers, class changes, Chapel, lunch, and all the other pieces of Middle School life are beginning to feel familiar, and our students are settling in beautifully.

Wednesday, September 16, will be our first Wednesday Dress Day. Please refer to the Middle School Handbook if you have questions about dress expectations, and, as always, feel free to reach out if we can help.

In my summer letter, I shared our theme for the year, “Constructing the Future.” Already, our students are building a strong foundation through the choices they make, the relationships they form, and the ways they care for one another. We still have plenty to build, and probably a few things to renovate along the way, but we could not be more excited about what is taking shape!

Thank you for preparing your children so well, encouraging them through this transition, and trusting us to walk alongside your family. Most of all, thank you for sharing your wonderful students with us each day. It is a privilege to know, challenge, support, and love them through Middle School. Your trust and partnership mean more to us than you will ever know.
