Senior Spotlight

Ray Qi

What extracurricular activities or clubs were you involved in, and how did they shape your high school experience?
I was involved in tennis and band, and both these activities taught me how to manage my time properly. Learning how to balance extracurriculars and academics was challenging to get the hang of, but eventually allowed me to be proactive and avoid procrastination.

Can you describe a moment when you felt particularly proud of yourself?
I felt particularly proud of myself when I qualified for the ATSSB All-State band for the first time my sophomore year. After falling one chair short my freshman year, I pushed myself to practice harder, and my efforts eventually paid off. Making the All-State band three years has shown me that you can achieve your goals with hard work and dedication.

Have you had any mentors or teachers who significantly impacted you?
The teacher who has made the most significant impact on me was Mrs. Duenas because she helped me fit in with others at Trinity. As a naturally introverted person, I was worried about moving to a new high school, but after meeting Mrs. Duenas, I realized that I didn’t have to feel scared. She made me feel like I could comfortably express myself around others and showed me that Trinity is an extremely supportive community.

What is one of your favorite memories from your time at Trinity?
One of my favorite memories from my time at Trinity was the expeditionary learning trip my freshman year. During this trip, I made a lot of new friends and shared many happy memories. My friends and I still laugh and reminisce about our time together at Santa Fe.
